  1. Teacher Role: In this video Miss Bliss takes on multiple roles. She acts as the care giver because she needs to and does her best to make sure that the boy is SAFE when he comes to her house. She takes on the role of a trusted adult because she allows him to share with her what has been troubling him and she passes no judgement but simply listens and tries her best to help the situation. Finally she takes on the of his teacher when she helps him with his presentation to his peers. She does not force anything on him but, waits until he is ready. The students can see that Miss Bliss will support them and that they are able to count on her.
Student Engagement: This was not your typical classroom setting however, I chose this video because I believe that it represented just how important it is for us as teachers to help our students see that when they need someone the most we will be there for them. Towards the end of the episode the students are engaged by sharing their stories to the class and learning about one another and it is here you see that because of the way Miss Bliss carries herself with her students that sense of community has already begun.
Curriculum: If we are talking about the specific classroom aspect of this episode...the students were given a chance to talk about the most important person in their lives by writing a story and presenting it to the class. I think that this was a great first activity to do with the students. Miss Bliss did not make it an assignment but, rather something person that she wanted the students to simply share. There was no specific page requirement or anything along the lines but, she really wanted the students to think about this and get their first feel for writing in the classroom. Miss Bliss' interest in her students helped them to begin to trust one another and share those personal feelings with the classroom, once again helping to create that "positive, trusting, family community."
